Labiaplasty and Labia surgery options for you.

Labiaplasty is another kind of plastic surgery which helps in the correction of the female external genital folds, the Labia Minora and/or the Labia Majora. The labiaplasty helps in the reduction of the inner lips of the vagina and reshapes the outer lips of the outside vagina also known as labia majora. Women who are born with too large, irregular or asymmetrical labia minora are the candidates for this surgery. The stretching and elongation of the labia not only produces an aesthetic predicament but also causes some functional hindrances. Labiaplasty does not hinder child birth but only helps to make it easier.  Traditionally most of the surgeons make use of direct excision and reduction method of Labiaplasty. In this method a long strip of labia minora is excised which leaves a minor surgical incision at the edge of labia. Other labiaplasty surgeons use a wedge expurgation technique which removes a V-shaped area from Labia Minora. Labiaplasty is performed under local anaesthesia accompanied by some other sedation with the objective of reducing the anxiety. Labiaplasty takes around thirty minutes for the surgery to get over. Many a time, labiaplasty is performed in conjunction with vaginoplasty, tummytuck, liposuction or any other cosmetic surgery. Labiaplasty may result to minor bruising or swelling or slight discomfort. But it is not found to last for more than 5-7 days. Women do experience some urinary hesitance but that is rare. Doctors advice to apply Neosporin ointment to the surgical sites for comfort. Labiaplasty is considered as a minor surgical procedure and is thus relatively safer.
